UNKNOWN MALAYSIAN MOMENTS

Hello everyone... welcome to my blog... to mark my return to the arena of blogging, the first entry would be on the event known as Dawning Raid September 1981 (Serangan Subuh).

In September 1981, our famously known former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir had launched a shopping spree at the London Stock Exchange to buy and to take over three companies which was owned by Britain's. the companies were Guthri, Sime Darby and Golden Hope.

based on the history, Sime Darby was a company built by British businessmen named William Middleton SIme and Henry Darby in the year 1910, which was also the year where our country was still under the grabs of the queen's nation. Guthrie on the other hand, was built by Alexander Guthrie in 1821 at Singapore. the company was responsible for introducing the plantation of Rubber trees and also oil palm in Malaysia.

in the raid that happened in the month of September 1981, Tun Mahathir was the leader and sent 4 person which 2 of them was Ku Li and Ghafar Baba. the raid managed to shock London which they would recall the day to be known as the day Malaysia struck London. the raid not only managed to got hold the three companies, but also managed to take back thousands acre of land which belonged to Malaysians. what was more fascinating was, the purchase of Guthrie was almost as it was bought for free because of the asset conquered by the company was 36 Billion which was far greater than the price paid to got hold of it.

not only London was shocked, the former British Prime Minister, Margeret Thatcher was truly devastated and was very angry when a nation as small as Malaysia was able to brought down a huge empire like Britain to surrender those three companies. this was also a lesson that Margeret truly learned when she was once offered a good deal by Malaysian government to give up the companies and she disrespectfully turned the offer down.

today, the companies are rightfully owned by Malaysians and had given so much to the country as well. all thanks to our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
